Lawlor found guilty of killing Kitchener’s McCreadie

After just over four hours of deliberation, the jury in the Derrick Lawlor murder trial has found the 56-year-old Waterloo man, guilty of first-degree murder in the strangulation death of Mark McCreadie.

The Record reports Lawlor showed no reaction when the verdict was read, but his two sisters, sitting in the front row, burst into tears.

Lawlor killed the 50-year-old Kitchener man, in a wooded area on the edge of Victoria Park in Kitchener, in April of 2014.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on Thursday.

He faces an automatic life sentence with no chance of parole for 25 years.
