A woman from Cambridge is facing over a dozen charges as the Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) investigates multiple reports of theft from vehicles in the West Galt area.
Between Sept. 7 and Sept. 22, police were contacted about seven cases of thefts from unlocked vehicles in the Gladstone Avenue and Aberdeen Road South area, just west of St Andrews Street.
A woman in her mid-forties was believed to be involved in four of the incidents.
“Residents are encouraged to lock their vehicles, remove valuables from sight, and avoid leaving wallets, identification documents, financial cards, or other valuables inside vehicles,” said police.
“As part of ongoing crime prevention efforts in the area, officers have also conducted Lock It or Lose It initiatives and provided residents with information on how to help prevent thefts from vehicles.”
A Lock It or Lose It campaign was launched for two weeks this past summer after a rise in thefts from vehicles in Cambridge.
Between June 30 and July 24, police investigated 43 cases of the crime in local neighbourhoods in that city.
A 46-year-old from Cambridge has since been charged with 15 offences in this most recent case. Her charges included attempted theft, and theft under $5,000.
The investigation is still ongoing, with police asking anyone with information to come forward.
