Loaded firearm discovered near ball diamond in Ponsonby

Provincial police in Wellington County are looking for the owner of a loaded gun found near a ball diamond in Ponsonby.
OPP say the firearm was initially discovered by a Good Samaritan on Thursday, who then tweeted about it. The post was later reported to police.
Investigators went out to the area this morning and sure enough found the loaded firearm on the ground.
Police say they do not routinely monitor social media and are out with reminders to report any public safety concerns directly to them.
Officers are also actively searching for the Twitter user who found the gun.
