Wellington County OPP continue to investigate a fatal collision along Highway 6, just north of Guelph.

The crash was reported around 12:15 p.m. on Sept. 10 at the Highway 6 and Wellington Rd. 22 intersection.

“Intersection is closed in all directions. Public is asked to use alternate routes,” read a social media post from OPP.

OPP initially described the crash as being “serious”, with multiple injuries reported.

Provincial police then confirmed shortly before 5 p.m. that one of the involved drivers, a 74-year-old resident of Fergus, was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The identity of the deceased individual will not be released out of respect for the family’s privacy,” said OPP in a release.

Police said the other involved driver, an 82-year-old resident of Elora, was first transported to a local hospital and then airlifted to a trauma centre in serious condition.

On Sept. 14, OPP said they continue to actively investigate the cause of the collision.

Anyone with information, including witnesses with dash cam video, is asked to call Wellington County OPP at 1-888-310-1122, or contact Crime Stoppers.
