Damage is estimated at $200,000 after a major fire at the Martin Grove Trailer Park in St. Jacobs Friday morning.
Fire officials say the fire may have been caused by a portable electric heater located in the living area of one of the trailers.
Everyone made it out of their homes in time, but two cats are still unaccounted for.
Woolwich Fire Chief Rick Pedersen tells 570 News around 40 fire-fighters from St. Jacobs, Conestogo and Elmira arrived around 1:30 am.
“The fire was through the roof of the one trailer and it extended to the second trailer and damaged a third trailer very slightly.”
A 73-year-old woman was taken to St. Mary’s Hospital in Kitchener to be treated for smoke inhalation.
No cause for the blaze has been determined at this time. Pedersen says they should complete their investigation by the end of the day.
He adds the the Ontario Fire Marshal’s office has not been called in.
