Wickenheiser named Canada’s flag-bearer for Sochi Olympics

Women’s hockey star Hayley Wickenheiser will lead the Canadian delegation into the opening ceremonies at the Sochi Olympics in two weeks.

Canadian chef de mission Steve Podborski says Wickenheiser has demonstrated true Canadian grit, patriotism and sportsmanship throughout her career.

This will be Wickenheiser’s fifth Olympic Games.

She was captain of the women’s hockey team that won gold in Vancouver.

And in addition to winning three gold medals and a silver in hockey, she also played softball in the Summer Games of 2000.
