‘Toys for Tickets’ program is back

Parking tickets are the last thing anyone wants to think about this holiday season but the City of Cambridge is once again offering a unique twist to paying that parking fine.
The “Toys for Tickets” program is back for its fifth year. The program allows residents to pay their parking tickets with a toy of equal value.
Acting Commissioner of Planning and Development Services at City of Cambridge, Hardy Bromberg tells 570 News what inspired this program.
“There was a need in our community and I thought this was a great way for the municipality and the public to contribute to a special time for kids.”
He adds this has been an extremely successful program in the past with 1,100 toys collected since day one.
“It turns something that isn’t so nice into such a positive. I think the citizens in this community are happy to shop for a special toy and turn that parking fine into a holiday gift.”
All of the toys collected will be sent to local families in need through the Cambridge Professional Fire Fighters Association’s Christmas Basket Program. You can bring in toys for your tickets from December 1st until December 16th.
The only exception to the “Toys for Tickets” program is if you unlawfully park in a spot designated for accessible parking.
