Woman charged after child found unconscious in hot car

A woman in Guelph is facing a charge of failing to provide necessaries of life after a 2-year-old boy was reportedly found unconscious in a parked car.

The incident dates back to June 29 at around 6:30 p.m., when a man told police he found the child in a car near a business on Woodlawn Road West.

“The man said he saw the child approximately 10 minutes earlier and when no parents came outside he opened the car to find the child unconscious, breathing heavily and sweating profusely,” said police.

“The vehicle was not running and the windows were open one to two inches.”

The child was then rushed to hospital to be assessed.

Several months later, police arrested a woman on Thursday, Sept 10 in connection with the case.

A 45-year-old woman has since been charged.
