Demolition to begin on Margaret Ave. bridge

Today marks the beginning of the end for the old Margaret Avenue bridge in Kitchener.

Demolition work is set to begin, as crews will remove the centre span of the structure.

Work was to start this past Friday, but was postponed due to high winds.

The bridge was ordered closed in June after an inspection raised concerns about the structural integrity of the bridge.

The city plans to build a new bridge.
