Another successful Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest 2013 has come to an end and the festivals’ new president says it was a big success.

Harry Vogt says many of this year’s events broke records for attendance. “Our 19 festhallen and 40+ family and cultural events have been exceptional this year,” he says. “That’s evident through the attendance that has taken place.”

The Tour de Hans had over 550 riders this year and the K-W Oktoberfest 5k Fun Run had 248 runners, both up from last year.

Vogt says this year’s new events like “Learn to cook like Oma” and “OktoberFEAST” were also well received.

The food bank was another of this year’s big winners. At the parade alone, the Onkel Hans food drive collected over 15,600 pounds of food and raised almost $15,000 in cash.

The Rogers Kitchener Radio Group annual pancake breakfast was also a big success for The Food Bank as those that turned out donated over 6,000 pounds of food.
