Young teen, 15, falls victim to sextortion attempt in Guelph

Police in Guelph have issued a reminder to never share intimate images online after an alleged sextortion attempt involving a 15-year-old boy.

The young teenager reportedly sent two explicit photos of himself to another person through social media.

He told police on Monday the suspect was threatening to post the photos online, and was asking him for money.

The suspect had claimed to be a teenaged girl.

“Intimate images should not be shared online, as they can be saved and redistributed at any time,” said police.

“If someone requests such images — especially someone not personally known to you — do not comply and cease communicating with them.”

Police said no money was sent and the investigation is ongoing.
