Rising humidex of near 40 to start September in Waterloo Region

Waterloo Region starting September with rising humidity and the risk of scattered showers and thunderstorms.
Environment Canada is calling for a humidex of near 40 on Tuesday.
Monday, the last day of August, saw humidex levels rise to 32, with a peak temperature of 24°C. A special weather statement calling for significant rain was also in effect for most of the day.
Sept. 1 could see temperatures climb as high as 28°C, with a humidex of 36, marking the beginning of a very muggy stretch.
The day also comes with a slight risk of a thunderstorm in the afternoon, and showers in forecast until Thursday.
There won’t be much relief overnight with a low of only 19°C on Tuesday, and 17°C Wednesday and Thursday nights.
Friday looks calmer and drier, with a mix of sun and cloud and a high near 25°C, offering the first break from the unsettled pattern.
