Brown, a thirteen year resident of Waterloo, has been actively involved in many aspects of community, including:
-Serving as a board member of Kitchener-Grand River Rotary Club
-Working as a Program Assistant at a Men’s Residential Rehabilitation Centre
-Volunteering as a Student Constable with the RCMP
-Serving as a support Worker for BC Interior Health
-Participating with the Katimavik program
Bill is currently employed by a chartered bank as a Financial Service Representative, and is also a student at the University of Waterloo studying Economics and History.
Brown was selected as the candidate at a meeting held Friday evening at the Adult Recreation Centre. John Cooper, vice-president of the riding association, opened the meeting speaking of Bill’s commitment to working co-operatively to create a society based on principled leadership, social justice, and policies and legislation that support all Canadians.
In his comments Brown emphasized the importance of stable employment, affordable child care and education, and access to basic needs. He encouraged voters to “be confident, continue the tradition of progressive ideas, and change the political tide in this riding.”
Larry Aberle, president of the riding association, commented: “Bill understands the financial challenges faced by many Canadian families and small businesses and is passionate about working to create positive change.”
