Opium arrests in Kitchener

Two Kitchener residents have been charged after alleging getting a package in the mail with opium hidden inside.
The Royal Canadian Mounted Police, Kitchener Detachment arrested and charged the two Tuesday for unlawfully importing opium into Canada, and possession for the purpose of trafficking.
The Mounties allege the accused received a package mailed from the Middle
East which had about 2 kilograms of opium concealed within its sides.
Inspector Steve Martin, Acting District Commander for the RCMP, says in a statement, “We see new and innovative ways of attempting to bring drugs and other contraband into our communities….[and] it is incumbent on all of us to keep our neighbourhoods safe for all.”
Charged are Rashed Yeghani and Fariba Yeganehnia of Kitchener.
