Colonial’s last batch?

A Kitchener cookie company with almost 400 employees has gone into receivership.

Colonial Cookies went into receivership Wednesday because of financial difficulties.

United Food and Commercial Workers Union Local 175 represents almost 350 workers at the plant.

Union Media Representative, Rob Nicholas tells 570 News the receiver is bringing potential buyers through the facility.

He says they certainly hold hope that is the end result.

In the meantime, the union is trying to set up a job action centre to assist the employees.

Nicholas adds they are entitled to Employment Insurance benefits.

Workers have been off the job since their annual Christmas break and were supposed to go back on January 5th, which never happened.
