Teen dies in crash

One 16-year old year old was killed in a car crash over the weekend, another was seriously injured.

Wellington County OPP say the crash happened early morning Saturday near Drayton, in Mapleton Township.

Police say a 2002 Acura was travelling westbound on a country road when it skidded and entered the ditch, striking a tree.

The two teenagers had to be extricated by fire fighters.

The passenger, a 16-year old boy from Wallace Township, was taken to Palmerston District Hospital and then transferred to Hamilton General Hospital with serious injuries.

The driver, an unidentified 16-year old from the Listowel area, succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead at the scene.

There is no word yet on the cause of the collision, and the investigation is continuing.
