Cyclist seriously injured after collision in Kitchener

Regional police continue to investigate following a collision that sent a cyclist to hospital with serious injuries in Kitchener. 

According to police, that incident occurred on Thursday at approximately 4:20 p.m. in the intersection of Victoria Street North and Margaret Avenue.

Through their initial investigation, police determined a Nissan being driven by a 22-year-old Kitchener woman was travelling southbound on Victoria Street North when attempting to cross the intersection. The driver swerved to avoid a collision with an eastbound vehicle and collided with a cyclist. 

That cyclist, a 65-year-old man from Kitchener was transported to hospital with serious injuries. 

Roads in the area were closed for several hours while police investigated. 

The investigation is still ongoing, as police have indicated that charges are pending. Anyone with information is being asked to contact the Waterloo Regional Police Traffic Services Unit at 519-570-9777 extension 8856 or Crime Stoppers.
