Charges laid in crash south of Conestogo

Several charges have been laid following a single vehicle collision in Woolwich Township.

It happened shortly after 8 p.m. Sunday, at Northfield Drive East and New Jerusalem Road.

Police say vehicle was travelling on Northfield, when the driver lost control, left the road and hit a hydro pole. The driver allegedly then left the scene on foot.

Officers arrived, arresting the alleged driver a short distance away. The driver was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.

A 36-year-old man from Woolwich has been charged with dangerous operation of a vehicle and failing to remain at the scene of a collision.
