Josh Woodcock doesn't have an axe to grind, but he will be throwing plenty in Chicago in December.

The Kitchener resident is one of 64 people who have qualified for the World Axe Throwing League (WATL) World Championship.

WATL says Woodcock is the highest scoring and most talented axe thrower from this region.

"We're excited to have Josh participate in the Championship," Evan Walters, Commissioner of the World Axe Throwing League, said in a release.

The event will be televised live, for the first time, on ESPN2 and ESPN3 on December 15.

"Things will only be getting bigger for us. We're excited to cultivate champions from all over the world and continue welcoming new members across the world. ESPN will help fuel the high-growth path that axe throwing is currently on." added Walters.
