Some big provincial cash is going towards a new elementary school in Kitchener.
About $31.3 million is being put aside for the new school at 365 Rosenberg Way in the Bleams Road and Fischer-Hallman Road area of the city.
Kitchener-Conestoga MPP Mike Harris announced the funding this week, as well as attending a groundbreaking ceremony.
The new school boasts room for 600 students in the Waterloo Region District School Board (WRDSB) and 88 licensed child-care spaces.
“The investment of $31.3 million by the Ontario government for a new elementary school marks an exciting new chapter in the WRDSB,” said Maedith Radlein, Chair of the WRDSB Board of Trustees.

“As our population continues to grow, we must meet the needs that come from an increasingly diverse community. This elementary school will provide a wonderful learning environment for WRDSB students, child care spaces and a welcoming space for families and the community to gather.”
Rosenberg II Elementary School is expected to be student-ready by 2028.
