Kitchener man charged for alleged drunk driving hit-and-run in Guelph

A Kitchener man is facing impaired driving and other charges for an alleged hit-and-run in the middle of the afternoon in Guelph.

Police in that city got the call around 4:00, Thursday afternoon, from a woman who said a vehicle had just struck her vehicle from behind on Gordon Street South near Wellington Street.

The suspect driver fled the scene.

But Guelph Police said he showed up about two hours later at a collision reporting centre on Clair Road West, and officers there could smell alcohol on him.

Tests at a police station confirmed he had more than the legal amount of alcohol in his system.

The 19-year-old from Kitchener was charged with impaired driving, dangerous driving, and failing to stop after an accident.
