Cambridge driver charged with impaired after morning pullover in Guelph

Police in Guelph say a Cambridge woman was arrested and charged for impaired driving after a 7:30 a.m. pullover.

They said a call came in Monday from a witness who had been following a vehicle down Highway 6 into Guelph, watching it being driven erratically all the way from Fergus.

The caller said the vehicle ran red lights, and got into a fender bender just outside Guelph.

An officer pulled that vehicle over near Woolwich Street and Woodlawn Road.

Guelph Police say the driver failed a roadside test, was arrested, and then testing at a police station showed she was impaired by drugs.

Police also say they found several prescription medications including sedatives in her vehicle.

The 64-year-old from Cambridge is charged with impaired driving, and dangerous driving.

Police remind everyone that it’s OK to call 911 to report a suspected impaired driver.
