GRT bus crashes into Cambridge home

A Grand River Transit bus left the roadway and slammed into a nearby home in Cambridge after Wednesday’s freezing rain brought slippery sidewalks and road conditions.

Waterloo regional police said it was around 7:15 p.m. when officers responded to the call after receiving reports of a bus had run into a home on Franklin Boulevard near Edward Street in Cambridge.

Officials have said that the driver of the bus lost control of their vehicle, with road and weather conditions both considered factors in the collision.

Despite there being two passengers on the bus at the time of the crash, police said no physical injuries have been reported.

Pictures shared to social media from the scene show damage to the home as a result of the crash.

Police have not mentioned any potential charges at this time.

As of Thursday afternoon, the bus had been removed from the house and Franklin Boulevard through the area of Edward Street had fully reopened to traffic.
