Airbags targeted in Kitchener thefts

Regional police are out with a warning for drivers in Kitchener, especially those who own Honda Civics, as thieves are prowling the region stealing an important piece of equipment from vehicles.
According to Waterloo regional police, airbags are a key accessory on the black market, and since November 2025, 17 airbags have been reported stolen in Kitchener.
Civics are frequently targeted for their airbags, typically in driveways, parking lots, and garages in the overnight hours.
Police are urging residents in Kitchener to park in well-lit areas and to consider installing a steering wheel lock to deter thieves from breaking into their vehicles.
Investigations into those thefts are ongoing.
