Regional police arrest man following robbery in Waterloo

One man in Waterloo has started off the new year on the wrong foot following a robbery on January 1.

It happened at a business near University Avenue West and Phillip Street at roughly 8 p.m.

The suspect had taken several items and tried to leave but was stopped by an employee.

A scuffle broke out where the suspect pushed the employee to the floor and took off on foot with the stolen goods.

Police arrived on scene shortly after and were able to locate and arrest the suspect, thankfully no injuries were reported from the incident.

The 25-year-old man has been charged and has been held for a bail hearing.
