For over 20 years the City of Kitchener has hosted the annual Grillefest Fundraiser, raising money for the Food Bank of Waterloo Region.
Residents around Waterloo Region that are interested in attending can expect an afternoon of food and community. For a minimum donation of $5, attendees will get a sausage, cold drink, and a cookie.
In the events news release, Kitchener says that Grillefest serves over 1,500 sausages throughout the day. Adding that last year’s event raised almost $5,000 for the Food Bank.
Including the other non-perishable food donations, over 9,800 meals were donated to local families in need in 2025 as a result of Grillefest.
During the yearly tradition in the city, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., food will be available and donations can be made in front of Kitchener City Hall.
Councillors and City staff will be in charge of cooking sausages, and handing out food for the Friday, Oct. 9, fundraiser.
Residents interested in attending the event are being encouraged to bring dry and canned food donations. They can be dropped off at the event, or at a donation box inside the City Hall Rotunda.
