Cambridge announces primary sponsor for Kin 1 Diamond upgrades

The City of Cambridge has announced Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada Inc. (TMMC) as the primary sponsor for its list of accessibility upgrades at the Kinsmen Stadium Fieldhouse (Kin 1 Diamond) in Riverside Park.

It stated that TMMC will be contributing $100,000 to support the upgrades slated for the local baseball diamond, with Cambridge Mayor Jan Liggett saying the company will now receive the naming rights to the fieldhouse.

“The Toyota Fieldhouse represents more than just an investment in infrastructure. It’s an investment in people, inclusion, and the shared experiences that bring our community together,” said Liggett. “Having a fun, safe and accessible space for all players, visitors and residents to enjoy is at the heart of the Cambridge experience.”

The upgrades slated for the local diamond include a fully accessible parking area, hard-surface pathways, enhanced spectator seating, covered dugouts, artificial turf on the infield and natural turf in the outfield, as well as new washrooms, changerooms, and an expanded licensed concession with a patio.

The sponsorship is part of Cambridge’s Play it Forward fundraising campaign, raising funds to support the costs of renovations at Kin 1 Diamond, the Preston Memorial Auditorium, the Cambridge Recreation Complex, and the now-completed Cambridge Soccer Complex.

As of now, estimates show the upgrades at Kin 1 Diamond are expected to be finalized and completed by the summer of 2026.
