The Region of Waterloo Public Health confirmed more measles cases and has identified another potential exposure location.
On Tuesday, the health agency said 11 more measles cases have been confirmed in the community.
That brings the total to 14 cases since March 21.
An additional public exposure location is also being reported from this past weekend.
It was at Grand River Hospital’s Emergency Department at 835 King St. West in Kitchener between 4 p.m. and 7 p.m. on Saturday, March 29.
Public health is working to identify people who may have been exposed. If you were at the hospital during that timeframe, more information like next steps can be found by clicking here.
“We continue to see cases primarily in unimmunized individuals,” Dr. Rabia Bana, the Region’s Associate Medical Officer of Health, said in a release. “Given the highly contagious nature of measles, we expect this number to continue to rise.”
Region of Waterloo Public Health said it will continue to update its Potential Public Exposures to Measles in Waterloo Region webpage. Case numbers are being reported weekly on Thursdays by Public Health Ontario.
