Police locate suspect involved in weekend motorcycle crash

Regional Police continue to appeal to the public for dash camera footage or witnesses – following a weekend crash in Waterloo that left a motorcyclist with serious injuries.

Police allege the driver of a silver Mercedes SUV was passing traffic on a curve on University Avenue, between Fischer-Hallman and Erb Street West, around 1 p.m. Sunday afternoon.

A 57-year old man from Gravenhurst driving a motorcycle had to swerve to avoid the SUV, and crashed.

The driver of the SUV did not stop.

On Tuesday, police released dash-cam images of the suspect vehicle, seeking assistance in identifying the driver.

Providing an update on Wednesday, regional police said they have since charged a 22-year-old man in relation to the collision.

That 22-year-old has been charged with the following offences, with their driver’s license suspended for 30 days – and vehicle impounded for 14 days:

  • Careless driving causing bodily harm
  • Fail to remain
  • Perform stunt – driver in oncoming portion of highway.
