The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada will see a change of command in Cambridge today.

The ceremony is a special occasion where new leadership is brought forward to continue the traditions of the unit.

As part of the ceremony, they will be welcoming the new Honorary Lieutenant Colonel, Jane Klugman.

Klugman says she's honoured to be the first woman to be appointed for the position.

“It's a huge honour. The Regiment is one of the oldest in Canada,” says Klugman. “We've been going since 1812 and our history is rich and its's diverse.”

The Royal Highland Fusiliers of Canada is Waterloo Region's only Reserve Infantry regiment, with members that have serve in both World Wars, peacekeeping missions, and recently, the war in Afghanistan.

The Ceremony will also see Bernie Melloul as the new Honorary Colonel and Major Steve Coe as the new Commander of the Regiment.

The public is invited to join in Change of Command Ceremony parade from the Cambridge Armoury to Cambridge City Hall where the formal Change of Command will take place starting at 3:00 p.m.
