Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) say they are investigating an attempted vehicle theft in Cambridge, and have released a series of photos to aid in the search.
Monday morning around 4:40 a.m. the suspect was witnessed attempting to steal a parked vehicle on Brook Street near Wellington Street in Cambridge. During the interaction, the witness reported seeing a firearm tucked into the waistband of the suspect’s pants.
No physical injuries were reported. WRPS investigators are looking to identify the individual pictured in the photos below, who may be connected to the theft.

Anyone with information is encouraged to contact WRPS’ Break and Enter, Auto Theft, and Robbery (BEAR) at 519-570-9777, extension 8255.
WRPS say they encourage local residents to consider taking the following measures to prevent theft:
- Block access to the onboard diagnostic port to prevent thieves from reprogramming key fobs.
- Use a steering wheel locking device.
- Store key fobs inside a radio frequency shielding pouch when not in use.
- Install an aftermarket GPS tracker to assist in vehicle recovery.
- Ensure all keys are accounted for and never left in the vehicle.
