A man from Guelph is now being charged with impaired driving after police say he hit a parked car Wednesday night.
At 8:45 p.m., Guelph police responded to a call in the Metcalfe Street and Kensington Street area, where a pick-up truck hit a parked SUV.
While speaking to the driver of the pick-up truck, officers say they noted signs of impairment and arrested the man.
The 63-year-old man from Guelph was transported to the police station, where officials say that tests revealed that he was over three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system.
The driver is being charged with impaired driving and careless driving, with his licence being suspended for 90 days, and police seized his vehicle for seven days.
The Guelph Police Service would like to encourage the public to be responsible if they choose to consume alcohol and cannabis. Please don’t drive if you are going to consume alcohol or cannabis, and please ensure that you plan ahead so that you have a safe ride home. Anyone who spots a suspected impaired driver is asked to immediately call 911.
