Police charge driver after fatal pedestrian crash in Kitchener

Waterloo regional police have laid charges against a driver following a fatal collision involving a pedestrian in Kitchener.

Emergency services responded to the Victoria Street North and Frederick Street intersection shortly after 4 p.m. on June 27.

Reports indicated a Jeep Wrangler struck a 62-year-old woman, who was taken to a local hospital and pronounced dead.

Through an investigation, police have laid charges against a 41-year-old Kitchener man.

The alleged offences include careless driving causing death, making an unsafe turn, and being a novice driver with a blood alcohol concentration above zero.

The accused is set to appear in court on Sept. 16.
