ION maintenance to disrupt service on Sunday

Riders relying on the region’s ION light rail service this weekend will want to plan for some disruption on Sunday.

The region’s transit service provider, Grand River Transit, warns that planned maintenance work will see ION light rail service shut down on Sunday, running from the start of service through to roughly 1 p.m.

You’ll still be able to get where you need to go, ION replacement shuttle buses are set to run during that period between Conestoga Station and Fairway Station, with service for all stations in between.

Service on the southbound ION line is set to resume from Conestoga Station around 1 p.m., while the northbound line is set to see a restoration of service from Fairway Station around 2 p.m.

You can find a full list of each ION station and its corresponding shuttle stop location here. Riders are encouraged to look out for red stop markers to locate ION replacement shuttles, while a bus on that route will read “ION shuttle” on the front.
