OPP release vehicle details in pedestrian hit-and-run in Fergus

The OPP are on the hunt for a pick-up truck involved in a hit-and-run in Fergus that put a pedestrian in hospital.

Officers from the Wellington County detachment were called to the scene around 11:00 on Saturday night, on Belsyde Avenue East, approaching Orangeville Road.

Police said a dark-coloured pick-up truck hit a 26-year-old pedestrian “who was within close proximity to the roadway.”

The pedestrian sustained life-threatening injuries and was taken by ambulance to a trauma centre.

On Tuesday, the OPP sent out word they were looking for any dark coloured trucks with heavy damage on the front-right side, or front-right mirror area.

Investigators want to hear from any witnesses or people from the area of the collision, especially those with cell phone or home security video from between 10:45 and 11:15, Saturday night.
