Impaired driving charges laid in Cambridge hydro pole crash

A Brant County driver is now facing impaired operation charges following a crash in Cambridge that saw a hydro pole downed on Friday morning.

It was around 1:25 a.m. when regional police responded to that crash in the area of Beverley and Kerr streets in the City of Cambridge. Police believe that the driver of a vehicle lost control and struck a hydro pole, which collapsed and exposed live wires on the roadway.

The driver and their passenger fled the scene before officers arrived, but they were found shortly afterward, just a short distance away, when the area had been secured.

Police note that no physical injuries were reported as a result of the crash.

A 24-year-old woman from Brant County now faces charges of Impaired Operation and Dangerous Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
