Employee in hospital after attempted robbery at Kitchener store

Police say a robbery at a store in Kitchener in broad daylight put an employee in hospital.
Officers with Waterloo Regional Police Service responded to the scene at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday at a store on King Street West near Andrew Street.
That’s just south of the WRHN @ Midtown hospital.
Police said a suspect was stealing merchandise when he was confronted by a staff member.
The suspect allegedly assaulted the employee, who had to go to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries.
Officers arrested the 43-year-old Waterloo man at the scene.
He was charged with assault causing bodily harm.
Police said he was also charged with robbery because officers found several pieces of stolen mail on his person.
