Another special weather statement has been issued for heavy rain.
Significant thunderstorms rolled through the region Monday night, prompting a weather alert.
Round Two is in store for Tuesday night as an incoming low pressure system will lead to more rain.
Environment Canada says there’s still uncertainty around the impacts but anywhere from 20 to 40 mm of rain is possible, before the rain ends Wednesday morning.
The conditions could lead to pooling on roads and in low-lying areas due to the saturated ground.
Water safety is paramount
There are no current flood watches or warnings, the Grand River Conservation Authority (GRCA) did issue a water safety message to people ahead of Wednesday.
According to the organization, between 20 to 40 mm of rain was dumped in the northern portion of the watershed, which has increased flows in the waterways.
With more rain in the forecast, GRCA is warning that it will raise river levels across the region.
“Higher flows will increase the safety risk around rivers, streams, and waterbodies throughout the watershed,” it said in the message. “Banks adjacent to local waterways are very slippery and, when combined with cold, fast-moving water, pose a serious hazard.”
The organization is reminding people to be cautious around rivers, creeks and other bodies of water over the next week.
