It’s a proud morning to be a fan of the Kitchener Rangers.
The Blueshirts clinched the Western Conference title in a big 6-2 win over the Flint Firebirds on Tuesday night.
The Firebirds are a real contender in the Western Conference and were in second spot in the west heading into Tuesday’s game.
But the Rangers’ special teams proved to be too much for Flint, scoring two times on the power play and two shorthanded goals.
In the win, the Rangers captured 100 points for the second straight season, a first for this franchise.
The fun continues in Rangers nation on Wednesday. The Downtown Showdown takes place in front of Carl Zehr Square starting at noon, a community event that will feature a ball hockey tournament with your Western Conference Champions.
The Rangers return to The Aud on Friday for a meeting with the Sarnia Sting. The first round of the playoffs starts on March 27.
