Rangers sign players to scholarship, development agreements

The Kitchener Rangers are welcoming a new 6-foot-1, 187 pound addition to their blue line.
Dmitri Toporowski has signed an Ontario Hockey League (OHL) Scholarship and Development Agreement with the Rangers.
“Dmitri will provide some stability and experience to our defence group,” said Kitchener Rangers General Manager, Mike McKenzie on the 20-year-old right hander.
“He has had a unique path the last couple years and we think he can help provide some leadership and a solid two-way play to our group. We look forward to welcoming him to Kitchener.”
That unique path includes time with the Quad City Storm of the SPHL last year and a few games with both the Rochester Jr. Americans in the NAHL and the Tulsa Oilers in the ECHL.
He also was on the ice in the WHL with the Red Deer Rebels as well as the La Ronge Ice Wolves and Melfort Mustangs of the SJHL.
“It’s an incredible opportunity to join a team that just won the Memorial Cup,” said Toporowski.
“There’s obviously a winning standard in Kitchener, and I’m excited to be part of that. As a 20-year-old, I know I have a responsibility to lead by example, bring energy and experience every day, and help this group continue to compete for championships. I’m grateful for the opportunity and can’t wait to get to work.”
Toporowski will be the only overage skater on the Kitchener Rangers for the upcoming season.
Forward Braden Reilly joins team too
The Kitchener Rangers also announced Wednesday that Braden Reilly has signed an OHL scholarship and development agreement.
Reilly was a first-round pick for the team in the OHL Priority Selection and served as assistant captain with the Toronto Marlboros U16 AAA program last season.
“We were very excited to select Braden in the first round,” said GM Mike McKenzie in a release. “He is a very talented player that can make plays and also use his shot and skill to put the puck in the net. We feel he has all the tools to be a top player in the age group and look forward to seeing him in a Ranger uniform.”
Reilly said he grew up attending Kitchener Rangers games at The Aud and is extremely grateful for the opportunity.
