Suspect charged for stealing thousands from credit unions in KW

He allegedly stole $28,000 from financial institutions in Kitchener and Waterloo, but now a Woodstock man has learned that crime doesn’t pay.

Investigators with the Waterloo Regional Police Service have been looking for a fraud suspect since last summer.

Police said four credit unions in Kitchener and Waterloo were hit between June 20 and 26, 2025.

They said a suspect with fraudulent documents managed to withdraw money from those unidentified sites.

Police sent out a photo of a suspect.

Eight months later, on Tuesday, police said they had made the arrest, with a 61-year-old man from Woodstock now facing 19 charges.

Those include nine counts each of identity fraud and utter forged document, and one count of possession of an identity document.
