Man impersonating bank employee charged with fraud in Kitchener

One man has been arrested following reports of a suspicious man on Friday evening in Kitchener on Ahren Street West.

At roughly 6:25 p.m., police received reports of an unknown man who was at a victim’s home.

The elderly victim had received a call from an unknown number claiming to be from their bank’s fraud department, and was told that a bank manager would be visiting them to collect their bank cards.

A suspect arrived shortly after, claiming to be a bank employee and attempted to collect their credit cards.

Police arrived and arrested the 23-year-old Brampton man outside the victim’s house.

The accused has been charged with fraud under $5,000 and has been held for a bail hearing.
