The Kitchener Rangers are heading back home after battling through a tough five-game stretch on the road, wrapping the trip up with a victory against the Sarnia Sting, 5-2.
The first period began fairly even for both teams, with the Sting getting on the boards first, before Haeden Ellis would tie things up for the East Avenue Blue.
In fact, on the stat sheet, there were a few similarities to draw between the two teams before the night would come to a close, with both teams taking 25 shots on goal and neither able to capitalize on the power play.
The second period is where the Rangers broke things open in the contest, with Weston Cameron and Carson Campbell both able to find the back of the net, giving the Blueshirts a two-goal lead.
That trend continued in the third, with Tanner Lam extending the lead, before the Sting would bring it back within two.
Similarly to the road trip as a whole, the Rangers would end things on a high note, with Jakub Chromiak scoring the team’s fifth goal of the game with an empty netter, to close things out 5-2.
The win ends what was a rough stretch on the road for the East Avenue Blue, finishing 1-4 in that five-game road trip. The team now sits in 6th place in the overall standings, 2nd in the Western Conference, and holds the number 1 spot in the Midwest Division.
