Police investigate vandalism on Pride crosswalk

Waterloo regional police are investigating after a painted Pride crosswalk was destroyed with tire markings.

Police received a report of vandalism at a crosswalk on Joseph Street on March 13.

Through an investigation, police determined that on the night of March 8, three unknown individuals riding bicycles allegedly drove in a manner that caused tire markings on the Pride crosswalk.

Police say the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone who witnessed the incident is asked to call police at 519-570-9777 ext. 4499. Anonymous tips can also be submitted to Crime Stoppers.

This is the second time tire markings have vandalized a Pride crosswalk in the region.

In Dec. 2024, police concluded the tire markings tarnishing the rainbow crosswalk at King Street South and Willis Way were deliberate.
