Police say no further information will be released out of respect for those involved after a vehicle struck a building in Kitchener.
The Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) was called Tuesday, Dec. 9, at around 6:12 p.m., and officers, paramedics, and firefighters responded to a single-vehicle collision on Breithaupt Street in Kitchener.
Officers said that a 66-year-old Kitchener man was driving a Ford Explorer, travelling southbound, when he suffered a medical episode.
This “resulted in the Ford leaving the roadway,” said WRPS to 570 NewsRadio.
The man was resuscitated on site and was then transported to Waterloo Regional Health Network-Uptown.
“We won’t have any further information to provide out of respect for those involved,” said police.
Police closed off the intersection of Breithaupt and Moore streets for several hours as the initial investigation and cleanup efforts were underway, but it has since reopened.
They noted that the building at 51 Breithaupt St. suffered significant damage from the collision.
