Kitchener Rangers forward Jack Pridham scored the goal in the second period of Tuesday’s game at The Aud that released the floodgates as hundreds of fans threw teddy bears onto the ice.
However, the goal came in a losing effort as the Rangers fell 3-2 to the Erie Otters on the 30th annual Teddy Bear Toss Night.
Erie opened the scoring just 33 seconds into the game through defenceman Garrett Frazer, and the Otters jumped out to a 3-0 lead by the midway point of the second period.
Pridham’s goal, his 12th of the season, came with just under three minutes to play in the second period, which paused the game for around 15 minutes as teddy bears were collected off the ice.
Pridham scored again on the power play in the third, but the Blueshirts were unable to find the equalizer.
The Rangers will get a chance to bounce back on Wednesday night with a game against the London Knights in the Forest City. Puck drop is at 6:30 p.m.
