Two youths arrested after using machete in threatening incident: WRPS

Two youths have been arrested and charged after Waterloo Regional Police Service (WRPS) said they threatened an individual with a machete at a plaza in Cambridge.
Officers were alerted to an incident Friday morning around 11:20 a.m. when it was reported that two men were brandishing a knife in the area of Saginaw Parkway and Franklin Boulevard.
When police arrived on scene, an early investigation found that a verbal argument broke out at the plaza, where one of the youths allegedly pulled out a machete to threaten the other individual.
The two youths then fled the area, with officers saying no injuries were reported in the incident.
Police state that they were quickly able to locate the two, arresting them on site, seizing a machete and a knife from the two 14-year-olds.
As a result, both youth have been charged with multiple offenses. The first is being charged with disguise with intent and possession of a prohibited weapon.
The second is facing a larger list, including disguise with intent, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, two counts of failure to comply with undertaking, and uttering threats to cause bodily harm or death.
Both youths were held in custody for a bail hearing.
