Drugs, throwing star seized in Kitchener warrant search

Two suspects from Kitchener are now facing a variety of drug-trafficking and weapon-related charges, following a police investigation that yielded some eclectic weapons in that city.

It was on Thursday when regional police say officers completed a search warrant at a home in the Victoria Street North and Forfar Avenue Area of Kitchener.

That search led to quite the haul, as investigators seized an unspecified quantity of suspected cocaine, fentanyl, methamphetamine and hydromorphone pills, alongside roughly $2,000 in Canadian currency.

Also seized by police were ammunition and a number of weapons, including a machete-style knife, a sword and a shuriken (throwing star).

A 58-year-old man and a 40-year-old woman, both from Kitchener, have been charged with:

  • Possession for the purpose of trafficking (four counts)
  • Possession of a weapon for dangerous purpose
  • Unauthorized possession of weapon.

That male suspect is facing additional charges, including four counts of Possession of Weapon Contrary to Prohibition Order.

Both of those individuals were held in police custody for a bail hearing.
