Kitchener driver charged in ‘extremely dangerous’ speeding incident

A Kitchener man is facing charges of stunt driving after being spotted by police travelling at an “extremely dangerous” speed along Huron Road.

Waterloo Regional Police shared news of the charges on social media on Friday morning.

According to the service, the driver was stopped by police after being spotted allegedly travelling at a speed of 171 km/h on Huron, near Trussler Road in Kitchener.

That’s more than double the posted speed limit of 70 km/h in that zone.

“Speeding at this level is not just illegal, it’s extremely dangerous,” reads that post from regional police. “Let’s all do our part to keep our roads safe.”

The man behind the wheel of that speeding vehicle, a 20-year-old from Kitchener, was pulled over and charged with careless driving, speeding, and stunt driving charges.

The offences also come with a 14-day vehicle impoundment and a 30-day licence suspension.
