Vehicle crashes into Kitchener home after driver flees police

A Waterloo driver is facing multiple charges after allegedly trying to flee from a police pullover, only to crash into a building in Kitchener.

Waterloo regional police said it happened around 5:30, Thursday afternoon, when officers tried to stop a black Nissan, near Victoria Street South and Lawrence Avenue in Kitchener

Police allege the driver took off at a high rate of speed, lost control, and crashed his vehicle into a home along Victoria at Weichel Street.

They said the incident caused “significant structural damage.”

Police said the driver and a passenger ran away from the scene, but were soon caught and arrested.

A 21-year-old man from Waterloo was charged with multiple offences, including flight from police, dangerous operation, and driving under suspension.

The passenger from the Nissan was an 18-year-old male from Woolwich Township, who was charged with fail to stop after accident.

Police make no mention of any injuries.
